Had a three day weekend and felt like getting out and doing some exploring. I wanted to stay close to home and heard about Johnson's Valley in Lucerne Valley, Ca. I had never really explored it in any extent, so we decided to go. We packed the jeep, dogs and all and headed off. Arrived in just a few hours, one of the good things about living in So. Cal., lots to do in just a few hour drive. Within no time at all we were out in the middle of nowhere. Lots of trails, we picked our path that followed some massive boulder out crops. We stumbled upon a secluded dead end road that was surrounded by boulders and caves. Spent three days there tooling around, hiking, exploring and camping out. Great fun! If you haven't been there it is definitely worth checking out
during fall and winter months when the weather is mild. Make sure to bring lots of water and fuel if you head off the beaten track.
I've been there myself. Had a great time, lots to do and see. Drove a Jeep Cherokee with a roof top tent (no worries about creepy crawlies on the ground) Spent two glorious days enjoying amazing sunsets and sunrises. Can't wait to get back!
