One of our favorite places to visit and explore would have to be the Grand Canyon in Arizona. On this particular trip we decided to drive into the canyon and down to the Colorado River. We took Route 66 to the Haualapai Tribe Hotel. The hotel was clean and the people were nice. We purchased a permit to take Diamond Creek Road down to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and the Colorado River. This particular route is on tribal land and the permit fee from the Haualapai tribe was about $30/person. It's a secret most visitors never discover: a 21-mile dirt road that winds its way downhill through a side canyon, all the way to the mighty Colorado. It was a scenic and beautiful drive. It was amazing to be driving down through the Grand Canyon. When we got to the Colorado River we stopped to have have lunch, take in the beauty and play in the water. To our surprise the White Water Rafter Tours ended their run in this particular spot. Great fun to see. If you find yourself heading in that direction definitely worth your time to visit.
