We planned a trip to travel across the country, and decided to purchase a roof top tent for our vehicle. We liked the idea of stopping when and where we wanted, and to cut down on the expenses of hotel rooms. We purchased a TJM Yulara roof top tent.

The tent was a good deal at approximately ½ the cost of other identical roof top tents on the market. It arrived safely and on time. The quality of the tent exceeded our expectations. Although lightweight it took two of us to install on the roof rack, however it was easily done. We climbed inside and were surprised at how comfortable and spacious it was for a two man tent. An added bonus was that it stores our sleeping gear, so more room in the vehicle for us.
On our first day we drove from California to Utah, approximately 12 hours on the road. It was about 1 a.m., exhausted we decided to pull over on a quiet turn-off away from the noise of a truck-stop.  I unzipped the cover of the tent, pulled out the ladder and the tent self-erected, within minutes we were sleeping. The next morning we were refreshed after a comfortable nights sleep. We folded the tent back up and within minutes we were on the road again.
Later that day we encountered a massive storm with thunder, lighting and torrential rain. We were concerned about the tent and our sleeping gear. When we arrived at our destination we were pleasantly surprised that the tent and all of our contents were completely dry.
On our way back, we drove through Colorado and decided to stop at Arches’ National Park, Utah. We arrived late and drove approximately 35 miles to get to the designated campsite which was full. Fortunately for us we found a parking space, deployed the tent and went to sleep. We woke up to a beautiful sunrise and spent the day exploring the park.
Our roof top tent not only saved us money, it was a safety factor and essential for pulling over and having a place to sleep. It gave us the freedom to stop and rest when needed. We found that the roof top tent is not only just for camping in the wilderness, but it can also be used to travel across the country. It is a great alternative to hotel rooms. Our tent paid for itself on the first trip. We continue to use and enjoy it whenever we can.
